What are risk factors for pancreatic cancer?
Smoking, alcohol, carcinogens, DM, chronic pancreatitis, high waist circumference
What mutation do 95% of patients have?
KRAS2
How do tumours in the head present?
Painless obstructive jaundice
How do tumours in the body and tail present?
Epigastric pain that radiates to back and is relieved by sitting forward
What can pancreatic cancer cause?
Anorexia, weight loss, diabetes, acute pancreatitis
What are signs of pancreatic cancer?
Jaundice and palpable gallbladder, epigastric mass, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, lymphadenopathy, ascites
What is the gold standard investigation?
CT/US and biopsy
How can you manage pancreatic cancer?
Resection, Whipple’s, chemo, pain management
