Hip Flexion
-Iliacus
-Psoas major
-Rectus femoris
-Palpate at lesser trochanter
Hip Extension
-Glute max
-Hamstrings
-Palpate at ischial tuberosity
Hip Abduction
-Glute med
-Glute min
-TFL
-Palpate at greater trochanter
Hip Adduction
-Adductor magnus
-Adductor brevis
-Adductor longus
-Pectineus
-Gracilis
-Palpate at the adductor magnus muscle belly
Hip Internal Rotation
-Glute med
-Glute min
-TFL
-Palpate at greater trochanter
Hip External Rotation
-Glute max
-Deep 6 (piriformis, superior & inferior gemellus, internal & external obturator, quadratus femoris)
-Can’t palpate deep 6, but can palpate in the muscle belly of glute max
Knee Flexion
-Hamstrings (biceps femoris long & short head, semitendinosus, semimembranosus)
-Palpate the medial and lateral tendons of the hamstrings just superior to the posterior knee
Knee Extension
-Quad muscles (rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius, vastus lateralis)
-Palpate at the quadriceps tendon
Ankle Plantarflexion & Inversion
-TP
-Palpate between medial malleolus and navicular bone
Ankle Dorsflexion & Inversion
-TA
-Extensor digitorum longus
-Extensor hallucis longus
-Palpate at tendon of TA in between the malleoli
Ankle Plantarflexion
-Gastrocnemius
-Soleus
-Palpate achilles tendon
Ankle Inversion
-TP
-Flexor hallucis longus
-Flexor digitorum longus
-Palpate between medial malleolus and navicular bone
Ankle Eversion
-Fibularis longus
-Fibularis brevis
-Palpate just posterior to lateral malleolus
