Opioid Analgesics

Ester- easily broken down and short acting
Amide- more difficult to break down and longer acting

Stops migraines once they start
Acute or Abortive therapy (treating migraines after they begin)
Use of triptans should be limited to 9 administrations a month
Antiemetic Agents
Treats nausea and vomiting (associated with migraines)
