What is the different between Acute and Chronic pain
A
Acute vs Chronic pain
Acute
Short duration - anything under 3 months - usually shorter than that.
Definable cause
Treated with painkillers
Broken leg, surgical wound etc.
Alarm function
Chronic :
function unclear, because its not maladaptive. Most of the time it is an injury that causes the changes in the CNS to occur, however, this is not always the case.
Long duration (over 3 months)
