ROLE OF PHLEBOTOMISTS
- To collect blood samples for laboratory testing
or for transfusion - Properly label collected blood samples with the
necessary data for proper indentation - Responsible in delivering or transporting
collected samples within appropriate prescribed
time limits - Process collected blood samples such as
centrifuging and aliquoting samples ready for
laboratory testing
PHLEBOTOMISTS
- They are asked to assist in collecting other
specimens such as URINE and other
NON-SAMPLES from patients - Perform front-oce duties, current procedural
terminology coding, and paperwork - Promote good relations with patients and
hospital personnel - Provide proper instruction to patients/
customers for container specimen collection - Train new technicians and students in duties
and responsibilities
