A

Training objectives and priorities can be established by a gap analysis which indicates the distance between where an organization is with its employment capabilities and where it need to be. Training objectives can then be established to close the gap

A

INTERNAL TRAINING
• Informal Training- training that occurs through interaction and feed back among employees
• On the job training- the most common type of training because it is flexible and relevant to what employees do. The problem is sometimes those doing the training may not wish to participate or have no experience in it.
• Cross training- training people to do more than one job

EXTERNAL TRAINING
• Outsourcing of training- hiring an external firm or entity. Approximately 25% to 30% of training expenditures go to outside training sources.
• Government Supported Job Training- Federal, State and local provide funding for a wide range of external training assistance and feedback
• Educational Assistance programs- When an employer pays for additional education for their employees

What are Snap Judgments

A

some interviewers decide in the 1st few minutes of the interview if the person is suitable and spend the rest of the interview trying to support that judgment

A

Unfavorable information about the Candidate is often over emphasized more than favorable information is when evaluating suitability

A

The Halo effect occurs when the interviewer allows a positive characteristic to overshadow other traits

A

Similarity bias occurs when interviewers favor or select persons that they believe are similar to themselves.

A

interviewers must learn to recognize and handle cultural noise, which stems from what applicants believe is socially acceptable rather than what is factual

7) Discuss and define the difference between training versus development

A

Training is defined as the process whereby people acquire capabilities to perform jobs. Development is an effort to improve an employee’s abilities to handle a variety of assignments and to cultivate employee’s capabilities beyond those required by the current job.
