having awareness (monitoring) and regulation (control) of your learning
what does it mean to have awareness of your learning, or to monitor your learning?
monitoring is assessing how well you understand and can use the information you are taking in or studying
is metacognition a teachable skill?

how can we monitor our learning?
first, you must establish a learning goal
-then you must ask yourself questions to see how your current knowledge of the information relates to your learning goal
what kind of questions can you ask yourself to monitor your knowledge against your learning goal?

-can i make connections, apply it to other contexts, or summarize
how can you monitor while taking an exam?
