P7 Page 19 Flashcards
Why do astronomers often build observatories in remote locations?
1) To avoid light pollution
2) Astronomers want as little atmosphere as possible, that is why they are built in areas of high levitation.
3) water in the atmosphere can cause problems with refracting light- so a dry location is good for a telescope.
4) clouds block the telescopes view so they are built on areas that have cloudless nights.
Why do astronomers need to work together?
1) Too expensive for a country to do alone.
2) get the best people for the job
3)
What factors need to be taken into account when building a telescope?
