Why can liquids be used in hydraulics?
A
They are incompressible
All the pressure in a liquid is distributed evenly in all directions to all other points in the liquid

What is the difference between high and low pressure?
A
High pressure - the force is concentrated onto a small area.
Low pressure - the force is spread out over a large area.

How can hydraulics be used?
A
Hydraulics work because they act as a force multiplier. The force on the slave pistons is larger because they have a greater surface area touching the liquid.
