P3 - Circuits Flashcards
What does Potential difference do?
Makes current flow in a circuit. The positive terminal of the cell is at a higher electrical potential than the negative terminal. It creates an electrical field in the wire causing electrons to move to the higher electrical potential
Current
Rate of flow of charge Measured in amps
What condition needs to be met for ohms law to apply?
Temperature
What is electrical power?
Energy transferred by a current per second Measured in Watts (W) = J/s
What are LDRs and thermistors made of?
Semiconductors
What are LDRs and Thermistors used in?
In sensing circuits
What is static electricity charged by?
Friction
What happened to resistance as light intensity or temperature increases in LDRs or thermistor
Resistance decreases and light intensity and temperature increases
What is ohms law?
Current is proportional to potential difference given that the temperature does not change
Potential difference in parallel circuits?
Potential difference in series circuits?
Current in parallel circuits?
Current in series circuits?
Charge/electron flow in circuits
