point
Macbeth’s feelings of deep regret that were caused by the murders is presented once again during the pivotal banquet scene, when his anxious conscience imagines the ghost of Banquo.
evidence
In response to seeing this Macbeth says, “Never shake thy gory locks at me”.
analysis
The word choice of “gory” means bloody and battered, this tells the audience Macbeth is seeing Banquo in his murdered state. Shakespeare uses this to show the extent of Macbeth’s guilt, as he even conjures up a vision of his friend’s murdered body despite not having seen the actual killing.
link
This makes it clear his guilt has led to his mental state deteriorating as this has caused him to hallucinate.
