Q

What is Newton’s first law?

A

If the resultant force on a stationary object is zero, (the object will remain stationary) or (it will carry on moving at a constant velocity.)

Q

What is Newton’s third law?

A

When two objects interact, the forces they exert on each other are equal (in magnitude) and opposite (in direction).

Q

What is resultant force?

A

The overall force on an object when all the forces are added together and what direction the object is going.

6
Q

What is the difference between mass and weight?

A

Mass = a measure of how much physical matter there is in an object.
Weight = the downward force acting on an object due to its gravity

Q

How would a velocity time graph of a parachute look like?

A

Steady increase until it plateaus to the first terminal velocity then curved deceleration until second terminal velocity then immediate line down when hitting the floor.

Q

What is terminal velocity?

A

The maximum velocity an object can reach due to the other forces acting on it (drag, etc.)

Q

What is breaking and thinking distance?

A

Thinking distance is how long it takes for you to see the obstruction and press the break whereas breaking distance is the time to takes for the car to actually stop.

16
Q

Explain why you should bend your legs on online when jumping.

A

As you need to absorb the impact within your knees by slowing down the rate of impact on the grounds.

17
Q

What is a crumple zone? How does it work?

A

A crumple zone is a part of a car design tape most of the impact in the crash. It works by crumpling up when the car crashes the takeaway the force from the collision ,therefore making it less harmful to the passengers.

18
Q

how does a seatbelt work?

A

A seatbelt works by holding you in place during a crash and spreading the force of the crash of your hips and shoulders are better at taking an impact.

19
Q

How does an airbag work?

A

An airbag works by sensors detecting a crash then caused a chemical reaction to make the airbag inflate in less than a second. This gives your head soft to hit making the rate of impact slower.

20
Q

What are anti-lock brakes and how did they work?

A

They are re your wheels from locking up when you break quickly. When you break quickly, it lets the wheel slow down not stop completely by turning them on and off in a short amount of time to avoid skidding.

21
Q

What is proportional and directly proportional?

A

Proportional is when one goes up the other goes up in a linear pattern. And directly proportional is when there is a straight line through the origin.

22
Q

What is hooke’s law?

A

The extension of an object is directly proportional to force that is applied to it ( only if the limit to proportionality is not met)
