P10 Flashcards

1
Q

What is Newton’s first law

A

If a resultant on a stationary object is 0, the object will remain station.

With no resolution the object will move with the smart velocity.

Q

What is inertia

A

Objects will stay stationary or the small e motion unless there’s a resultant force acting on it,

Inertia mass measures how difficult it is to change velocity of an object; it’s the tattoo of the force needed to accelerate an object over acceleration procedure.

Q

What is breaking

A

During breaking the brake presses against the wheel force of friction acts against them. The kinetic energy of the car converts to the thermal energy in the brakes so the temperature increases. The car then slows down as kinetic energy decreases.

Q

What is terminal velocity

A

Terminal velocity is an objects eventual velocity when it’s falling. Weight is ideally a frictional force of an object. At terminal velocity resultant force is 0.

What is stopping distance effected by

A

Thinking distance

High speeds

Weather

17
Q

What are stretching forces

A

They are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction so they’re balanced

18
Q

What’s the rule with elastic materials

A

It will always return to its original length if no force is applied it’s called elastic deformation

So an elastic material that stretches and doesn’t go back to their original shape is called elastic deformation.

19
Q

How to work out force in terms of extension

A

Force(N)=springs constant(N/M) x extension(M)/ compression(M)

20
Q

What is work done equal to

A

It’s equal to elastic potential but not in elastic ally deformed
