A
- Harbour village on North coast of Cornwall
- 90% of its local economy is tourism based
- On the confluence of three rivers.

- drainage basin is steep
- many areas of impermeable rock (eg. granite)
- very heavy rainfall
- there has been deforestation further up stream

- 120 people were airlifted to safety
- 58 homes / businesses flooded
- hundreds of cars were washed away
- the damage cost over £2 million.

- low bridges raised to prevent build up of debris
