Great spruce bark beetle life cycle
A
Females bore into wood and lay eggs. Cigar shaped gallery and packed with frass.
Larvae live in wood all year.
Pupation occurs in gallery, adults emerge and feed on roots.
Adults live all year round, black with orange hairs.

How is it spread
Control ?
A
Affects London plane and oriental plane. Caused by ascomycete fungus. Causes wilting of leaves and staining of wood. Bark cankers develop into sunken lesions.
