HASWA, PPE, Environmental Protection Act, COSHH, WACA
Environmental Protection Act
Management of waste, collection and transport. Employers responsible for supervision, aftercare of disposal sites. Waste management license is needed. Relates to pesticides and protecting people plants and animals.
COSHH
Requires employers to control substances that are hazardous to health. They must find out what the health hazards are, decide how to prevent harm to health, providing control measures to reduce harm.
WACA
Protection of flora fauna and countryside.
Pests Act
Responsibilities of occupiers to control rabbits. Methods of controlling rabbits. The right to shoot.
Plant Health Act
Forestry commission competent authority in Great Britain in regards to protection of forest trees. Empowers them to allow the introduction of pests into GB by making plant health orders.
Plants, produce from outside UK fall into 3 categories
Unrestricted, controlled (phytosanitary certificate), prohibited.
Plant Health Order
Orders placed to prevent the introduction of new pests and diseases and spread to those that have.
Plant passport
Applicable in EU and designed to ensure that plants that harbour p&d are not spread between UK and EU
Phytosanitary certificate
Statement that plant has been inspected
Complies with legal requirements for entry into EU
Free from serious P&D
