What is Anatomy?
Anatomy is the science study structure of the human body and their relationship to one another
What are the classification of anatomy?
Macroscopic or gross anatomy. Microscopic anatomy.
Macroscopic anatomy is subdivided into:
-Surface anatomy
-Systemic anatomy
-Regional anatomy
What is the different between macroscopic and microscopic anatomy?
-Macroscopic (Gross) anatomy described by naked eye such as internal and external bodily organs
-Microscopic anatomy described under microscope such as tissues and cells
What is the difference b/t Medial and Lateral?
Medial is towards the center
Lateral is towards the side
What is the difference b/t Anterior and Posterior?
Anterior (ventral)= towards the front
Posterior (dorsal)= towards the back
What is the difference b/t Superior & Inferior?
Superior is towards the head
Inferior towards the foot
What is the difference b/t Proximal & Distal?
-Proximal= near the root of the limb (closer to the trunk)
-Distal= away from the root of the limb (away from the trunk)
What is the difference b/t Palmer and Planter?
-Palmer is towards the palm of the hand
-planter is towards the sole of the foot
What is the difference b/t External and Internal?
External located outside
Internal located inside
What is the difference b/t Superficial and Deep?
-Superficial= located near the surface
-Deep (profundus): located in the depth
What is the meaning of the term anatomy that is derived from the Greek words?
Cutting to a part
