Describe what happens in anaerobic respiration with an oxygen deficancy
pyruvic acid forms and reacts to from lactic acid
Accumulates as an end product of anaerobic respiration in the form of lactate
What do lactate do during diffusion?
Diffuse out of muscle cells and is carried in the bloodstream in the liver
What energy does lactate use in the liver?
Uses ATP, liver cells convert lactate back into glucose
What happens to o2 during strenuous exercise
O2 is used to produce ATP for muscle contraction, rather than for converting lactase back to glucose
What developed as lactate builds up?
An oxygen debt- must be repaid
What does o2 debt refer to?
amount of o2 that liver cells require to convert lactate back into glucose plus muscle cells need to resynthesize ATP
What does physical training help?
Increase a muscle capacity to improve energy production
