A
Enlargement of a muscle due to repeated exercise

What is atrophy?
A
Decrease in muscle size and strength due to disuse

What does low intensity exercise cause slow fibres to do?
A
Increase mitochondria and capillaries: they become more fatigue- resistant but maintain size and strength

What does forceful exercise cause fats fibres to do?
A
Increase number of actin and myosin filaments which enlarge fibres and entire muscle: this allows for stronger contraction
