  • Black Kings = Chicago crack-dealing gang
  • lived with members, slept on couches + floor to gain insights in poverty-stricken community
  • observed illegal + violent behaviour
  • gained insights into lives of drugs-dealers, squatters, prostitutes, pimps, police officers + others
