what is ‘hitting the wall’?

A

it is due to depleted muscle glycogen and low blood glucose meaning a low availability of fuels for aerobic respiration.
it can be treated using high glycaemic foods that are quickly oxidised.
for intense exercise > 30 minutes up to 90g/hr of carbohydrate can be consumed to avoid fuel depletion.

what is over-training

A

when over-reaching results in a prolonged deterioration in performance (>2 months). It can have physical and psychological causes, which can be associated with weight loss, GI symptoms, insomnia, anxiety and depression.
