Q

what is a MET?

A

a metabolic equivalent of task. It is a gauge of physical activity intensity. 1MET= rate of energy expenditure at rest, approx 3.5ml of O2/kg/minute

Q

What is the anaerobic threshold?

A

the point at which lactate rises disproportionately above resting volumes (>4), it is usually communicated as a percentage of VO2 max at which it occurs. In an untrained person it is usually around 55%. A higher lactate threshold is a marker of better endurance.
