The Purpose of overtime is?
To provide necessary staffing for all jail units within the confinement bureau.
Overtime is defined as?
Time worked in excess of 40 hours in a single work week.
How is Pay Period defined an SOP?
A pay period shall be defined as a seven day period beginning on Saturday and ending on the succeeding Friday
Who’s responsibility is it to control over time?
Is there a direct responsibility of each appointed authority to control overtime payroll costs in the department as well as to control early and late departure of employees.
Who approves overtime?
Overtime will be approved by watch supervisor
Why would overtime be required?
Supervisors may order personnel to perform overtime to meet mandatory manpower requirements if the number of volunteers is not adequate.
To prevent overtime what can the supervisor adjust?
Ensure each watch is properly balanced. Employees regular work days shall be adjusted to provide a balance number of employees for duty on each work day.
In order to keep the watch properly balanced what are some things that the supervisor can control?
He can control all of pre-approve time off. Every consideration shall be afforded to all employees for pre-approve time off
How often shall a supervisor review overtime needs?
Supervisor shall review overtime needs at least once every two hours. The employee shall be released when the supervisor determines the employee is no longer required to work in an overtime capacity.
How was your overtime be compensated? And when shall I be compensated?
Supervisor show make attempt to grant time off equal to the amount of overtime worked (flex). Time off must be taking in the same time. The overtime was worked. If workload demands prohibit flexing the overtime, employee will be paid for overtime hours worked
When overtime is accrued what documents have to be turned in and to whom?
All staff shortage shall be documented in a detailed report through the chain of command overtime authorization reports shall indicate the position or duty assignment field and the reason that necessitated the overtime.
