Outcome Measures for Individuals with LE Limb Loss Flashcards

1
Q

Describe the amputee mobility predictor

A
  • Ceiling effect with higher level mobility
  • AMP scores >37 indicate K3 prosthetic & they are ready to perform activities beyond basic ambulation is they show proficient balance, postural stability sitting/standing, & can vary walking cadence

List he gait speeds for each K level

A
  • K1 = 0.17 m/sec (0.15-0.19)
  • K2 = 0.38 m/sec (0.25-0.54)
  • K3 = 0.63 m/sec (0.50-0.71)

Q

Describe the L test

A
  • Modified TUG
  • Incorporates 2 transfers & 4 turns of which at least 1 would be to the opposite side
  • Total distance covered is 20m walk
  • Walking path representing an “L” configuration requires turns to both the R/L
  • Standard distance (3 x 7m)
  • MCID = 4.5 sec

Q

Describe the berg balance scale/community dwelling individuals with lower limb amputation

A
  • Slight ceiling effect
  • May not be challenging enough to expose the balance deficits in community dwelling individuals with LLA

Q

Participants performed worse on the BBS if they were classified as any of the following:

A
  • Having fear of falling*
  • Using a mobility aid for daily ambulation*
  • Having a unilateral transfemoral amputation as opposed to transtibial
  • Having a dysvascular-related amputation
  • Having experienced ≥2 falls in the previous 12 months, as opposed to ≤1
