Outcome measures Flashcards
To know the goal of each assessment and/ or outcome measure
Functional Movement Screening
global movement
Hip Injury and osteoarthritis outcome score
Hip disability w/ or w/out hip OA
Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis outcome score
Knee related QOL, ADLs, sport and recreation function symptoms and pain
Lower Extremity Functional Scale
LE MSK conditions and disorders. Looks at pts initial function, on going progress and outcomes measures as well as functional goals
McGill Pain Questionnaire
self-reported pain scale
Numeric Pain Rating Scale
Subjective intensity of pain
Oswestry Disability Index
Assesses Sx and severity of low back pain in terms of disablement and degree to which back and leg pain is impacts functional activities
Rolan Morris Disability Questionnaire
Low back pain and functional activities
Visual Analogue Scale
Measure perceived level of dizziness while sitting quietly and then following one minute of horizontal head movement at 1hz
BORG Breathlessness Scale
Perception of effort and exertion breathlessness and fatigue during physical work
Modified MRC Dyspnea Scale
Disability attributable to breathlessness and is useful for characterizing baseline dyspnea in patients with respiratory disease
Rating 0-4
0= no trouble with breathlessness except strenuous exercise
4= too breathlessness to leave the house of breathlessness dressing/ undressing
Barthel
Assesses ability of an individual with a neuromuscular and MSK disorder to care for him/her in their daily life
Box and block test
unilateral gross manual dexterity
Chedoke McMaster Stroke Assessment
Stroke assessment. Impairement and activity inventory
DASH
Evaluates disorders and measures disability of the UE and monitor change or function over time
Disability Rating Scale (DRS)
Tracks recovery of an individual from coma to community and to measure general functional changes over the course of recovery for individuals with moderate to severe TBI
Dizziness Handicap Inventory
Self-perceived handicapping effects imposed by dizziness
Expanded disability Status Scale
Multiple Sclerosis
Aims to identify the level of impairment as individual with MS is experiencing at the time of the assessment
Fugl Meyer motor
Evaluates and measures recovery in post-stroke hemiplegia patients (UE and LE)
Functional Independence Measure (FIM)
Based on the international classification of impairement.
Glassgow Coma Scale
Motor, visual and verbal response after a TBI
History of Falls questionnaire
Hx of falls, surrounding: activities prior to fall perceived cause (med, peripheral neuropathy), environmental factors, description of injuries
Hoehn and Yarh Classification Scale
Assessment of PD and evaluates the stage of PD
MMSE (MiniMental State Examination)
Assesses cognitive impairement
Modified Ashworth Scale
Measures spasticity
Ranchos Level of Cognitive Functioning
TBI. To look at response and assistance level.
Level 1= no response. Total help
Level 7= appropriate response. Needs stand by assistance
Stroke Impact Scale (SIS)
Looks at emotion, communication, memory and thinking social role functioning
Berg Balance Scale
static balance and falls risk
Clinical Outcome Variable Scale (COVS)
Functional mobility across a broad range of neurological conditions
Community Balance and Mobility Scale (CB & M)
Detects ‘high level’ balance and mobility deficits based on tasks that are commonly encountered in the community environment
Dynamic Gait Index (DGI)
Assess gait, balance, and falls risk. Individual’s ability to modify balance while walking in the presence of external demands
Functional Reach test
Maximum distance an individual can reach forward while standing in a fixed position
TUG
Mobility, balance, walking ability and falls risk in older adults
