Outcome Measures Flashcards

1
Q

Parkinson’s Disease

A

Universal Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale
- assesses ability to perform functional tasks
Pastor’s Test
- tests ability to resist postural perturbance

Q

Multiple Sclerosis

A

Expanded Disability Status Scale - quantifies disability in MS, by assessing disability in 8 functional systems

use outcome measure specific to the location of their lesion and their symptoms

Q

Balance

A
Trunk impairment scale - good for sitting balance
Step test - dynamic, single leg stance
Berg Balance Scale - from sit to stand to standing balance, to more complex tasks
Timed Up and Go test - dynamic
Functional Reach - dynamic
Romberg - static
Sensory integration test - variety
Dynamic Gait Index
HiMAT - high level balance and mobility

Q

Gait/Mobility

A

temporal and distances measures (velocity, stride length, cadence)
dynamic gait index - high level patients
TUG - good for less able patients, simple

Q

Stroke (Cortical Injury)

A

Ritchie Articular Index - assesses shoulder pain
Motor Assessment Scale - cortical injury only, more functional, hemiplegic specific
CMII - variety of cortical injuries, more time consistent, people more complicated than just hemiplegic

Fugl-Myer test of upper and lower extremity function

Q

Spasticity

A

Tardieu Scale - measure of spasticity
0 = no resistance throughout passive movement
1 = slight resistance throughout passive movement, no clear catch
2 = clear catch at precise angle, followed by release
3 = fatigable clonus, at precise angle, occurs less than 10 seconds
4 = non-fatigable clonus, at precise angle, occurs more than 10 seconds

Australian Spasticity Scale - extension of Tardieu scale, paediatric specific
0 - no catch on rapid passive movement (RPM)
1 - catch occurs with RPM followed by release, no resistance throughout remainder of range
2 - catch occurs second half of range during RPM, followed by resistance
3 - catch occurs first half range during RPM, resistance throughout remaining range
4 - with RPM, body apart appears to be fixed, but can move with slow movement
