Q

Does Christianity support euthanasia?

A

Christianity clearly does not support euthanasia because of the belief that all life holds value for the above-mentioned reasons. By committing euthanasia, Christians believe that we are diminishing or taking away this value.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Corinthians states that “you are God’s temple”, “If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him”, because the “temple is sacred”. Here Paul refers to the human body and human life as being the temple clearly showing that to deliberately harm or kill one’s self is against the word of God.

Q

Does this religion support euthanasia explain why why not. Buddhism

A

Buddhism places great stress on non-harm and on avoiding the ending of life. The reference to life -any life- so the intentional ending of life seems against Buddhist teaching and voluntary euthanasia should be forbidden. In Theravada Buddhism a lay person daily recites the simple formula: “I undertake the precept to abstain from destroying living beings.”

A

Buddhists believe in karma and by killing oneself, a person will have bad karma and in his next life be reborn into a new life which depends on their karma in the last life. They also do not wish to inflict harm upon any living thing In ““Should any bhikkhu intentionally deprive a human being of life, or search for an assassin for him, or praise the advantages of death, or incite him to die (thus): ‘My good man, what use is this wretched, miserable life to you? Death would be better for you than life,’ or with such an idea in mind, such a purpose in mind, should in various ways praise the advantages of death or incite him to die, he also is defeated and no longer in communion.”
