- Alcoholism.
- Polycythemia.
- Cushing’s syndrome.
- SVC obstruction.
Causes of Malar rash
- Mauve color in the Malar area of the face (sparing the nasolabial fold)
- Due to VD seen in SLE
Def of Decubitus
It’s the posture adopted by the patient while lying in the bed
Def of Orthopnoea
Dyspnea on lying flat relived by sitting
Causes of Orthopnoea
- Left sided heart failure (the most important)
- Massive pericardial & pleural effusion
- Status asthmaticus
- Increased intra-abdominal pressure as in tense ascites
Def of Platypnea
Dyspnea on sitting relived by lying flat
Causes of Platypnea
In bilateral sever basal lung diseases: bilateral basal
pneumonia & hepato-pulmonary syndrome.
Def of Trypopnea
- Patient prefers to lie on one side
Causes of Trypopnea on diseased side
Causes of Trypopnea in healthy Side
In lung abscess with bronchial fistula (to help drainage).
Def of Decubitus
Position of the patient in bed in relation to certain disease as Lat decubitus.
Def of Position
Position preferred by patient during sitting as squatting position.
Def of Attitude
Position taken by the patient on standing as flexion attitude.
Def of Gait
Walking style of the patient as circumduction gait in hemiplegia.
