How is the gluteal ‘safe area’ defined?
A
Index finger on ASIS + middle finger on iliac tubercle.
The triangle between= safe area for i.m. injection.
Avoid hitting the sciatic nerve (+ superior gluteal nerve + vessels)

A
Inguinal ligament (superiorly). Adductor longus muscle (medially). Sartorius muscle (laterally).

Biceps femoris (superolaterally).
Semimembranosus (superomedially).

Skin + fascia (posteriorly).
