Other Effects: Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Amp Modelling, Distortion And Pitch Shifting Flashcards
Chorus is a modulation effect that simulates multiple instruments or voices performing simultaneously by duplicating an audio signal, creating a “?” or “?” effect. One copy of the signal is slightly delayed and’s also slightly defined using an ? The wet and dry signals are then recombined.
Shimmering.
Thickening.
LFO.
The Flanger modulates the length of the delay on the original signal and creates a ? ? effect that gives the sound a metallic sound and adds movement.
Comb filtering.
A phaser works by duplicating the audio signal, one copy of which is run through an ?-? ? which changes the phase of the ? depending on the frequency of the input signal. When the signals are combined, certain frequencies are boosted or cut due to phase cancellation between the signals, which varies as the signal frequencies change, giving movement to the sound.
All-pass filter.
Waveform.
Amp modelling are ? of guitar amplifiers. Many amplifiers also have gain or boost circuits to push the signal into ? for a heavier sound.
Emulations.
Overdrive.
Distortion adds artificial ? to a signal by forcing the signal to clip and squares the top of the ?
Distortion.
Waveform.
Pitch shifting alters the pitch of a sound by changing the wavelength of the note in real time, including many ? and uses them to its advantage.
