Dynamic Processors: Compressor Flashcards
A compressor is a tool that controls the dynamic range of a ?
Signal.
Once the signal goes above the threshold on a compressor the device begins to reduce the volume of the signal set by the ? ?
Ratio control.
If the ratio is set to 2:1, for every two ? that the volume exceeds the ?, the compressor will only allow one dB out.
dB.
Threshold.
Compressors contain attack and release settings to control how fast or slow it operates once the signal has gone above the ?
Threshold.
With ? ?, when a compressor has a hard-knee setting it operates as described. With a ?-? setting, the level of compression’s gradually introduced so that volumes below the threshold are compressed and the threshold point is less obvious.
Knee-control.
Soft-knee.
