-The drug anatabuse is used in aversion therapy to treated alcoholism,by preventing the body breaking down alchol causing immediate hangover symtoms.

Biological-Heriorin addiction
-Herorin addiction-lead people to commit crime to pay for further drugs and is associated with violent crime
-Methodone is a drug used to help withdrawal symtoms
-By proving a legal medical controlled substitute,methodone help reduce drug addiction may reduce crime.
Biological-Lobotomy
-Involves cutting the connection between the frontal lobe and the thalamus
-Used to treate sexually motivated criminals and spontaneously violent criminals
-Howver has many side effects and today very few lobotomies are now performed.
Individualistic-Aversion therapy
-Conditioning needs to be stronger to change criminals behavioir-harder to condition(resident to punishment)
-Offenders are asked to think about an unacceptable sexual desire until they are arosed.
-A strongly assertive stimulus is then given such as electric shock or nausea inducing drug.
-the aim is so the offender can associate the deviant arrosal with the stimulus.To prevent thoughts occurring to reduce crime.
-Limited effectivness only effective in the short term

-society’s structure could be made more equal in these ways
-Tackle poverty-Minimuim wage,better welfare benefits,job security-would reduce crime by giving everyone an equal chance of achieving success by legal means.
-Equal opportunities in school-treating working class pupils equally would reduce their failure rate,less likely to experience status frustration and join a delinquent subculture.
-Education in prisons-Half of Uk prisoners have a reading age of 11.Better education in prisoners would help prison inmates gain skills to get a good job and go straight.
-Anti policies have a posstive effect-Socities that spend more on welfare have a lower crime rate,so ties where inequality is high have higher crime rates.

-Major political policies compete with each other to be seen tough on crime
-E.G Blair labour goverment brought in ASBOS and curfews.
-Tends to be used for policatcal reasons
-The prison population tends to increase
-Tends to be influenced by victim movements
-Tends to be heavily influenced by media involvement-Newspapers
Sociological policy-Restoritve justice
-Can give victim a voice in the criminal justice system
-Can make offenders accountable and face the effects of their actions
-Rsearch suggests restorative justice has been shown to reduce PTSD in victims and can motivate offenders to stop crime

-It reduced re offence rates by 14% every 1 pound spent on it it saves crim justice system 8 pound

Decriminislation-E.g for cannabis possession so that fewer people are labelled
