Vertebral artery
A
> Branches off subclavian artery
Travels through foramina transversarium
- lateral masses of C1 = v. lateral so artery has to do 90 degree turn after C2 to reach lateral mass then another 90 degree turn to reach foramen magnum
Then they connect to form basilar artery = posterior aspect of circle of willis (blood supply to brain)

- Cranial and Cervical Nerves
- Suprahyoid and infrahyoid muscles (swallowing + speech by moving hyoid bone)

A
> Boundaries - SCM - Trapezius - Middle 1/3 of clavicle (apex is at superior nuchal line)

- Vessels (jugular vein + subclavian artery)
- Nerves (spinal accessory nerve 11, cervical nerves + brachial plexus)
- Muscles (scaleni, levator scapulae, splenis capitis)
