What is the difference between Munchausen’s disorder, somatisation and hypochondriacal disorder?
A
Munchausens = intentionally producing signs and symptoms Somatisation = continually worried about symptoms despite negative tests Hypochondriacal = continually worried about diagnosis (especially cancer) despite negative tests

A
Aka Munchausens syndrome
Symptoms are intentionally produced (patient wishes to adopt the sick role for primary emotional gain, but no secondary gain as is present in malingering)
