What actually happens in the joint
Thought of as inflammation due to repeated microtrauma, could be due to injury, obesity as well as misalignment
Is the joint hot and swolled?
NO

Septic arthritis
What is involved in a hollistic assesment of patient with OA?
EVERYTHING (pretty much):
-jobs, social, mental, sleep, pain, exercise, comorbidities, support network, ideas and understanding of the condition, management
What are the non-pharmalcological tratments?
Heat packs (thermotherapy), electcrotherapy, aids and devices, manual therapy (massage)
What is the most common arthritis in the whole body?

Not in osteoarthritis no.
What does capsaicin do?
Topically applied, and helps to numb the pain. (blocks substance P and so doesn’t alllow pai signals to travel up to the brain)
What is the main surgery ?
Joint replacement (hip)
