OSPF handout quiz Flashcards
what is Adjacency Database?
neighbor table
LSDB… Link State Database?
topology table
forwarding database?
routing table
what command is used to see the neighbor table (adjacency database?)
show ip ospf neighbor. table shows a routers connections have been made between this router and neighbor routers.
what command is used to see the LSDB table?
show ip ospf database
-shows the link state database table. represents the network topology.
what command is used to see the forwarding database ?
show ip route
-unique on all routers, used to show where to send packets to other routers.
how are neighbor ejacancies made?
hello packets are sent out all interfaces that are ospf enabled. used to establish/ attempt to establish adjacencies with neighbors.
what are LSA?
link state advertisements: after neighbor adjacency is established- LSA send out cost and state of each connected link. used to tell all other routers.
what is LSDB?
link state database: based on the link state advertisements received this is used to build the topology of the network.
what are the 5 types of OSPF packets?
hello packet, database description packet, link site request packet, link state update packet and link state acknowledgement packet
hello packet?
discovers neighbors and builds adjacency with them.
command ‘database description’ does what?
check for database synchronization between routers
link-state request
requests specific link state records from router to router
link state update?
sends requested link state records
link state acknowledgement
acknowledges other packet types.
