Should there be stairway or ladder at points of access? If so, how big should the elevation break be per CalOSHA? What about FedOSHA?
cal osha requires elevation break of 18 inches or more vs FedOSHA is 19 access must be clear
At what range of height should the rails be?
34 inch – 38 inch
How much force should the rails withstand?
200 lbs
What minimum length should the landing areas be?
30 inch min
How many stairways and/or at what height should a handrail be installed?
Handrails should be at least 36 inches but no more than 37
Should ladders be inspected before each use? Which ladders in particular should be taken out of service?
Damaged ladders. All ladders have labels that instruct the user safe ladder use.
If labels on labels are NOT legible, what do you do?
You ask for a new sticker from the manufacturer.
Are A frames allowed on McCarthy sites? If not, why not?
Only podium ladders since it eliminates people from working from the top step to make it safer for everyone.

Why would metal ladders/aluminum ladders not to be used around electrical?
They conduct electricity which can cause electric shock and violate safety regulations
What should we do if a ladder is placed at a doorway?
The door must be barricaded, and signage posted
What should be repairs like per the manufacturer?
“like new”
What is a proper ladder set up? Set up on firm foundation or staked/secured.
Ratio of 4:1 base is 1 ft back from wall (or plumb)
Should step ladders be used in closed configuration?
No they must not be used in the closed configuration
