The USA and USSR were allies during ww2
What was the beliefs of the USA
USA was capitalist so had a democratic elected government. USA’s economy was not controlled by the government. Americans believed in personal rights and freedom of speech

USSR was communist and was a single party state. Its economy was controlled by the government. The state decided what rights the citizens had and freedom of speech and personal rights was restricted

Why were the consequences of Franklin Roosevelt dying in 1945
Roosevelt is replaced by Truman who is more suspicious of USSR and is less willing compromise with them. He wants to limit USSR’s sphere of influence but Stalin fears attacks from the west and believes the sphere of influence will help the soviet union. This makes it harder for Britain and USSR to work together

Stalin was installing a government in poland made up of pro communists members

USA and Britain see this as a violation against the yalta agreement. This damages the relationship of USA and Britain against USSR as is makes them trust stalin less than before

This is because USA was the only country that had nuclear weapons which boosted their power and status and gave advantage over USSR which annoyed Stalin

Atom bombs increase competition between USA and USSR which led to USSR speeding up the development of its own bombs starting an arms race between them

The red army occupied Eastern Europe countries after world war 2 which affected USSR as these countries was part of the sphere of influence

Stalin planted pro soviet puppet governments in these countries and they removed these countries political opponents and held fixed elections to ensure they stay in control
Define the Cold War
Increasing tension between USA and USSR was known as the Cold War but there was no war as they were both scared of each other for going into war especially now that USSR has its own nuclear weapon
