Origins, Insertions and Innervations of Muscles Flashcards
pec major
Origin: Clavicular head - medial half side of anterior clavicle
Sternoclstal head - 6 first costal cartilages
Insertion: lateral lip of intertubercular sulcus
Innervation: lateral and medial pectoral nerves
Pec minor
Origin: 3-5 ribs
Insertion: medial border of coracoid process of scapula
Innervation: lateral pectoral nerve
Deltoid
Origin: Lateral third clavicle, spine of scapula and acromion of scapula
Insertion: deltoid tuberosity of the humerus
Innervation: axilliary nerve
rotator cuff mscles
Origin - inserion - innervation
Supraspinatus - supraspinous fossa - 1st facet of great tubercle - subscapular nerve
Infraspinatus - infraspinous fossa - middlefacet of great tuberosity - subscapular nerve
Subscapularis - subsapular fossa - lesser tuberosity - upper and lower scapular nerve
Teres minor - middle part of lateral border of scapula - inferior facetof great tuberosity - axillary
Biceps
Origin
Long head - superglenoid tubercle of scapula
Short head - coracoid process
Insertion - bicipital aponeurosis - radial tuberosity
Innervation - musculocutaneous nerve
Brachialis
Origin: distal half of humerus
Insertion: coracoid process and tuberosity of ulna
Innervation: part musculocutaneous part radial nerve
Coracobrachialis
Origin: coracoid process of scapula
Insertion: middle third of medial side of humerus
Innervation: musculocutaneous nerve
Triceps
Origin
Long head - infraglenoid tubercle
Lateral head - posterior surface of humerus
Median head - posterior surface of humerus
Insertion - olecranon and fascia of forearm
Innervation - radial nerve
Brachioradialis
Origin - lateral supraepicondylar ridge
Insertion - styloid process of radius
Innervation - median nerve
Flexor capri radialis
Origin - medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion - 2,3 metacarpal base
Innervation - radial nerve
Hamstrings
Origin; insertions; innervation
Semitendinosus - ischia tuberosity of pelvis; medial surface of tibia; tibial branch of sciatic nerve;
Semimembranosus - ischial tuberosity of pelvis; medial condyle of tibia; tibial branch of sciatic nerve;
Biceps femoris long head - ischial tuberosity of pelvis; lateral side of head of fibula; tibial branch of sciatic nerve;
Biceps femoris short head - linea aspera of posterior surface of femur; lateral side of head of fibula; fibula branch of sciatic nerve;
Quadriceps femoris
Origin - all originate from femur apart from rectus femoris which originates from anterior iliac spine
Insertion - all insert into tibial tuberosity
Innervated by the femoral nerve
Gluteus maximus medius and minimus
Origin; insertion; innervation
Gluteus maximus: ilium, sacrum and lumbar fascia; iliotibial tract and gluteal tuberosity of femur; inferior gluteal nerve;
Gluteus medius: ilium; lateral side of lesser trochanter; superior gluteal nerve;
Gluteus minimus: ilium; medial side of lesser trochanter; superior gluteal nerve;
Gastrocnemius, Soleus
Origin, insertion, innervation;
Gastrocnemius: condyles of femur, combines w Soleus -> calcaneal tendon; fibular nerve
Soleus: medial tibia and fibula , calcaneal tendon; fibular nerve
