Musculoskeletal 2 Flashcards
What are the boundary of the axilla?
The boundaries are the clavicle and the lower border of the pectoralis major and teres major.
What does the axilla contain?

What are the two compartments of the arm and what do they do?
Anterior and posterior, flexion and extension.
What passes through the cubital fossa?
Median nerve, brachial artery
What are the joints of the pectoral girdle and their movements.
The joints are:
Stenoclavicular joint - only bony joint in the pectoral girdle and is an passive joint, mainly moving when the scapula moves
Glenohumeral joint - joint with most movement in the body, for place, ent of the hand and maximixing manipulation
Acromioclavicular joint - acts as a strut, static stability, keeeps upper arm away from thorax without much effort from muscles
Scapulothoracic joint - stabilize and actively move the scapula
What are the muscles that act on the shoulder girdle?
- Extrinsic (attaches scapula to trunk)
serratus anterior, Levator scapulae, trapezius, rhomboid major and minor, pec minor - Intrinsic (attaches scapula to humerus)
Teres major, Deltoid, rotator cuff muscles ( supraspinatus, infraspinatous, subscapularis, teres minor ) - Attaches trunk to humerus
Pec major and latissimus dorsi

Internal and external obturator, gluteus minimus and medius, trochanteric bursa (which can get inflamed - trochanteric bursitis
What are the contents of the popliteal fossa?
Popliteal artery, popliteal vein, tibial nerve;
What are the branches of the fibular artery?
Fibular artery
Circumflex fibular artery
Medial and lateral plantar artery
