When a new organism/ species emerges, sometimes random genetic codes slip in. Some of these can help the individual of the species to survive, while others make no difference to that survival.

Q

Why may Catholics say in response to Darwin ?

A
  1. From a limited human point of view, things may look random but we don’t have the same intelligence as god that allows us to understand his way of thinking.
  2. Soul isn’t a scientific study so science isn’t in a position to say anything about souls. Soul is a different dimension of reality - spiritual, another world, a share in the life of god, God’s breath in our body

Q

What do Catholics think about science?

A

Catholics have no contradictions between science and Genesis because Genesis is theology to show why things are the way they are and not how. It is for God to show the world had a beginning , which God invites to explore , and that creating the world was a creative act of omnibenevolence

17
Q

Why do Catholics think science who God created the world?

A

Due to God’s omniscience, the Big Bang happened at the exact micro-second as if it was too early it would be too small to form stars and everything would have flown away before stars could form. Also, life on Earth requires carbon to bond with 4 other atoms and this is designed by God through his omniscience.
Due to God’s omnipotence, scientific laws such s gravity for the matter of the universe to form solar systems wouldn’t have been created

18
Q

Why do some Catholics think science and the Bible are right ?

A

Some Catholics believe that the main points of the creation story matches the science as one day in the creation story could be million/billions of days. Also, some believe that God saying “Let there be light”is reference to the Big Bang

19
Q

What do Creationists believe ?

A
  1. The Bible is the Word of the God and is accurate
  2. God has given his truth though the Bible

  4. World was created 6000 years ago
  5. believe that fossils are bodies of organisms killed in the worldwide flood written in the Bible
  6. Faith doesn’t need evidence
  7. Scientist are biased with their discoveries based on belief
20

What is the difference between Catholics and Creationists?
