Responsibilities of the liver
Metabolism, storing carbs and fats, puts protein into blood stream, detoxification, bile production
Responsibilities of kidney
Filter blood, produce urine, control blood ph levels, produce vitamin D, tells bone marrow to produce red blood cells, control blood pressure
Fiber is good for what organ?
Colon (large intestine)
Responsibility of the colon
Absorbs water, vitamins, electrolytes. Produces feces, stores indigestible material.
What part of the small intestine does the most digestion?
Duodenum
Role of the stomach
Churning food and hydrolysis
Roles of pancreas
Produces hormones (insulin, etc) and secrets digestive enzymes into the small intestine
Spleen
Stores blood, filters blood, helps fight infection with white blood cells.
Where are white blood cells produced?
Mostly in bone marrow. Also produced in spleen, lymph nodes, and thymus gland.
