Organometallics Flashcards
An elementary reaction that increases both the oxidation state and coordination number of a metal center
Oxidative Addition
These transition metal carbenes have the following characteristics:
- High oxidation state metals
- Supporting ligands are strong donors groups
- Heteroatoms Groups on Carbenes (Alkyl, aryl or H)
Schrock Carbenes
(Nucleophilic carbene)
This reactions converts two hydrocarbons (alkanes, alkenes or alkynes) to two new hydrocarbons by the exchange of carbon–carbon single, double or triple bond.
Metathesis
These transition metal carbenes have the following characteristics:
- Low oxidation state metals
- supporting ligands are pi acceptors
- Heteroatoms Groups on Carbenes (-OCH3, Cl-, -NR2) (π donors)
Fischer Carbenes
(Electrophilic Carbenes)
