Q

Frequency Distribution

A

A list of all possible data values or types and the frequency of occurrence of each one.
Helps to organize and describe the data.
Can be ungrouped or grouped (class intervals).

Q

Steps in constructing a frequency distribution

A
  1. count the number of scores
  2. identify the highest and lowest score
  3. identify the smallest unit of measurement
  4. decide on an appropriate number of class intervals
  5. Decide on the score range of each class interval (largest score-smallest score / number of class intervals).
  6. Round the class interval
  7. List class intervals of scores in order

Q

Ungrouped distributions

A

Used when data are items rather than numbers or when you can use all possible data values without it being too many (more than 15).

Q

Bar Graphs

A

Depict frequencies or other group statistics. The groups or categories are on the x-axis so order doesn’t matter. Separated by some space. Depicts ungrouped FDs

Q

Histogram

A

Uses vertical bars to depict frequencies of an interval/ratio variable (not other statistics).
No spaces between the bars.
Depicts grouped FDs.
