Q

What do each of the 3 types of muscle tissue do

Q

Adaptations of muscle tissue

A

Many mitochondria - to release energy for muscle contraction via aerobic respiration
Many blood vessels - provides oxygen & glucose needed for a high rate of aerobic respiration

Q

3 types of cartilage

A

Hyaline - found in embryos & trachea
Fibrous - found in knee joint & discs between vertebrae
Elastic - found in ears & flap over larynx

Their function is to provide suppoer

Q

Structure of xylem

A
  • no cross walls -> continuous hollowed tubes formed
  • dead cells with no contents -> easy unimpeded water movements
  • lignified walls -> provides strength & support + prevents collapse under tension

Q

Structure of the phloem

A

-> cells are joined from end to end perforated sieve plates, & few organelles
-> allows easy flow of sugars and amino acids
