- Without details (customer, client, stock, etc.) no business can function
What are goals in IT?
Goals are big, vague, long-term ideas that one aims to achieve.
What are some examples of typical goals?
“Provide a safe working environment”
“Work efficiently”
“Provide good customer service”
Why are goals useful?
Goals are useful to guide people and organisations in a particular direction
What are objectives and what are some characteristics?
Objectives are smaller targets and are aimed at helping to achieve a larger goal. Objectives are specific, measurable, and achievable.
What are Organisational goals and objectives?
Organisational goals and objectives relate to the whole organisation. These are the things the whole organisation wants to achieve.
What are System goals and objectives?
System goals and objectives are what the systems within an organisation are aiming to achieve in the long and short term.
What is an Information System?
An information system is a combination of Equipment (hardware and software), People, Data and Processes
What are the two different types of organisations?
Commercial and Service (not-for-profit)
What is the number one goal for a Commercial organisation?
Profit

Providing a service
What is an Information Management Strategy?
Any method to help control and regulate information, both internally (within the organisation) and externally (for the public)

Software designed to facilitate the storage, organization and retrieval of information

Maximise opportunities, Minimise risk, Fulfil legal requirements and Review and evaluate effectiveness
