- benign masses on medial VF surfaces
- misuse/abuse
- hoarseness, rough voice, edema
- Treatment: modified voice rest, low impact voice, voice therapy (laryngeal relaxation, RVT, VFE’s)

-unilateral soft mass
-misuse/abuse
-edema, hoarseness, rough voice
-Treatment: SAME AS nodules
surgery if cant get rid of them with therapy but do behavioral management for misuse/abuse

A
- benign mass originating under vf surface
- misuse/abuse
- vocal fatigue, hoarseness, rough voice, edema
- Treatment: SAME AS nodules

papilloma
A
- HPV wart like growths of larynx
- congenital, acquired at birth
- hoarseness, rough scratchy voice, scarring
- laser surgery with Mitomycin C

candida/fungus
A
- fungal infection
- leukoplakia if meds haven’t taken it away after 14 days
- anti fungal meds, hydration

granuloma
A
- polyp on vocal process
- causes are LPR and intubation
- globus sensation, throat clearing, heartburn/indigestion
- PPI X 6 months, reflux diet, hydration, modified voice rest, low impact voice

contact ulcer
A
- raw sores on mucous membrane overlying vocal process of arytenoid
- misuse/abuse, LPR, smoking, intubation
- throat clearing, globus sensation
- Treatment: SAME AS GRANULOMA

sulcus vocalis
A
- thinning or absence or superficial lamina
- unknown cause
- harsh voice, higher pitch
- Treatment: surgery. no therapy will help

A
- web of tissue across larynx
- congenital, post surgery
- may not have voice problems
- Treatment: surgery with mitomycin C

hemmorhage
A
- bleeding into superficial lamina propia
- misuse/abuse, meds
- vf erythema, hoarseness, edema
- modified voice rest, hydration, reflux diet, steroids, voice therapy (laryngeal relaxation, RVT)

A
- inflammation of vf’s
- infection, LPR, allergies
- sore throat, cough, fever
- Treatment: modified voice rest, meds (PPI, antibiotics, allergy, steroids), hydration

reinkes edema
A
- swelling of entire superficial lamina propia
- smoking
- gravelly voice, low pitch, edema
- Treatment: surgery (if occluding airway) smoking cessation, hydration, reflux diet, PPI

leukoplakia
A
- white patches/growths on epithelium
- smoking, chemical exposure,
- hoarseness, edema, decreased vf vibration
- biopsy, smoking cessation, hydration, reflux diet

- rough voice, pain
- surgery, laryngectomy, smoking cessation, radiation, chemotherapy, hydration
