anomie results if people do not have a specific role, functionalism – institutions that have survived must have a function

The Liberal New Right did not believe there was such thing as society – emphasising individualism, and believed that hierarchies were not fixed but that society could be meritocratic
what is neoliberals view on organic society?
Everyone fulfilling their own self-interest 🡪 end result is still cohesion/equilibrium
