Organic Molocules Flashcards
18.) What are the (4) types of MACROMOLECULES?
- ) Macromolecules 2.) Monomer 3.) Polymer
4. ) Functions
What do all MACROMOLECULES have in COMMON? (4)
(1) They all contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen
(2) they all have major roles in cell membranes
(3) they all act as catalysts in the body
(4) they all have peptide bonds between carbon atoms
What is the FUNCTION of an (ENZYME)?
To speed up chemical reaction by lowering activation energy. It is the catalyst for a chemical reaction it takes substance and changes it by making two products
How does (TEMPERATURE) and (pH) affect the ACTIVITY of an ENZYME?
Temperature–the higher the temperature the faster the enzyme activity. Optimal temp is 98.6 (body temp)
pH–level should be at 7 (at some levels the enzymes won’t function
22.) The (ENZYME X) will work best in what TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT?
Graph
23.) What is the BEST (pH) for (ENZYME X)?
The best pH level is 7
