Organelles Flashcards
organelles:
the parts of a cell
each organelle performs one or more essential functions of the cell
nucleolus:
the area in the nucleus of a cell where ribosomes are produced
mitochondria:
it produces energy from glucose
goigi apparatus:
it channels throughout the cell
chloroplasts:
produces glucose in plant cells
cytoplasma:
the genetic material of the cell
vacuole:
sacs containing food or water
lysosomes:
sacs with digestive enzymes
cell membrane:
it controls what enters and leaves the cell
endoplasmia:
the region outside of the nucleus
cell wall:
it gives support and strength to plant cells
nucleus:
control center of the cell
ribosomes:
are structures that build and transport proteins and other molecules
endoplasmic reticulum:
is a network of membranes connected to the nucleus
rough ER:
studded with ribosomes
